Department Of EEE Organized An Industrial Visit For II, III & IV Year EEE Students To “Power Grid, Vellore”

“Power the world – Electrical Engineering”

EVENT OUTCOME:

• Students had good opportunity to enhance practical knowledge on the Electrical Equipments in related to Power system Engineering through this industrial visit.
• Students learnt more about Power grid, Vellore, some the key points are as follows: The electricity executive engineer, Mr. Malhotra from Delhi, announced that the power grid located at Thiruvalam Ilayanallur will be activated during March, 2015; In order to address the shortfall of power experience in the state of Tamil Nadu, The Power grid Corporation of India has undertaken a project of transmitting power from other states through high-voltage transmission to Tamil Nadu. A substation with a capacity of 7,65,400 kW is being installed at a cost of Rs. 100 Crores at Ilayanallur, Thiruvalam in Vellore District. The project started in 2012. 200 acres of land was acquired for this project which is progressing smoothly. This is TN EB substation, high giant electric towers with Power supply from various part of country flows through this area and this substation serve as important source of power split zone of this area. It is 765KV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) substation.
• Students were given with clear explanation on CSD Control setter Device, C-Ted mess current, relays, cooling systems and insulation needs.
